With the end of winter now in sight, it may be time to think about your summer holiday options within the UK and book well ahead to avoid any disappointments. With this in mind, here are some of the best UK destinations for your summer break.

Cornwall

With arguably the best beaches in the UK, along with historical sites such as Tintagel Castle, abandoned tin mines and theme parks for kids, Cornwall is a wildly popular destination. Close to Tintagel is the perfect campsite for you to rest your head at night – Perran Springs. With great options for caravans, two person pods and your basic tent pitches, it’s no wonder it continues to be the perfect place to base yourself for your Cornish getaway. Check out their location:

Newquay is one of the largest towns on the north coast, and is known these days for it’s popularity with surfers as well as a nightlife scene that attracts stag nights and hen dos.
St Ives on the far north-west coast has spectacular beaches, cliff-walking trails and an idyllic harbour front, popular with artists and holidaymakers alike. Finally, head to the most westerly point in the UK at Lands-End, which has dramatic cliffs that drop into the Atlantic.

Snowdonia National Park

With Mount Snowdon at just over 1000 metres being the biggest attraction in this national park, it does have much more to offer than just climbing. The beautiful town of Bedgelert lies in a spectacular valley below the Mountain, and in summer bursts to life with numerous flowers blooming over the walls of thatched cottages. Just outside the town within easy walking distance is an abandoned copper mine which you can explore and at the exit commands amazing panoramic views of the nearby hills, valleys, lakes and mount Snowdon.

Somerset

A bit of an underdog often overshadowed by it’s bigger and more hyped-up neighbours – Devon and cornwall – Somerset is actually a beautiful part of the UK so often underrated. While Minehead on the north coast might not be the best-looking beach in the country, it is a fun seaside town for kids and a popular choice to stay at for families.  However, Exmoor National Park in the far north-west offers spectacular hiking through woodlands, hills, and vales, as well as some quaint coastline with old villages with thatched roofs and small harbours such as Porlock and Culbone, which is famous for it’s extremely old church.Away from the coast and further to the south and east however are medieval towns such as Wells and the famous festival-town of Glastonbury, which is also something of a new-age, hippy hang-out with a fascinating dark-age history.

Isle of Skye

Something of an outdoor-lovers paradise, the Isle of Skye is located off to the west off the Scottish mainland, and is gotten to by ferry or short plane journey.
Some of the natural attractions here are the Fairy Pools, which are full of multi-tiered crystal clear waters that dazzle in vibrant blue and green colours as they stream downwards to the lower tiers.
The falls are swimmable, but be warned that they are icy cold even in the height of summer!
The Old Man Storr is also unmissable: A jagged spiked peak that juts out the top of a hill dominating the landscape around it. It is like something out of Lord of the Rings, and indeed much of the film Prometheus was actually filmed on the Isle of Skye.
And finally, it must be mentioned that the coastline is equally as stunning, with the mountain backdrop, beaches such as Elgol Beach rival those found in places such as Cornwall.

Hopefully this short guide to a handful of summer-destinations in the UK will give you an idea of where you might like to head to this summer yourself!
